Publication: Portuguese Language Journal Vol. 17 (2023)

With a sense of collectivity and joy, the American Organization of Teachers of Portuguese (AOTP) presents another edition of the Portuguese Language Journal (PLJ), an annual publication that reflects the collaborative, educational and scientific commitment of the organization, in partnership with the Center for Latin American Studies at the University of Florida and the Latin American and Caribbean Center at Florida International University. This journal, hosted since 2023 on the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform, indexed in the Modern Language Association (MLA) Directory of Periodicals, Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) and Red Iberoamericana Innovación y Conocimiento (REDIB), has been dedicated to providing a platform for the democratization of studies on the teaching and learning of the Portuguese language. Each piece of research presented in this issue addresses fundamental and contemporary issues in the teaching of the Portuguese language, with studies ranging from the inclusion of literary texts in language courses through comics to the representation of Brazilian rap. We enthusiastically invite researchers to consider contributing to the 2024 edition of PLJ, further strengthening the dialog and advancement of the field. We thank everyone who is part of our community, which is so dedicated to the development and promotion of the Portuguese language.
